Bustling, buzzing Spitalfields is a haven for those in search of a quirky shopping experience. Here it’s the free-thinking independents not chain stores that hold sway, in a lively environment that truly deserves to be described as unique and electric. On Brushfield Street and Market Street, resplendent under a Fosters & Partners – designed glass canopy, cutting edge fashion and interiors shops are joined by a dazzling array of food stores and restaurants. This is now a seven-days-a-week destination with the market (once a Sunday-only mainstay) open every day except Monday & Saturday. There is also an annual programme of free arts events including Jazz & Classical concerts, Exhibitions, Fashion Shows, Street Theatre and Dance performances. A Routemaster bus becomes a candlelit restaurant, striking street art adorns once industrial walls, an enclave of London’s best bars, cafes and restaurants weaves a path past achingly hip shops, salons, cutting-edge gallery spaces and a retro-themed bowling alley, and up through buzzing markets full of undiscovered treasures: The Old Truman Brewery offers inimitable retail, leisure and commercial spaces for an open and diverse community. The photo-open is being held at the Truman Brewery's F Block galleries from Oct 15 to Nov 4.

theprintspace occupies two floors of a 4000sqft area comprising an exhibition space, retouching booths, walk-in print stations and large format digital c-type and Epson Giclee printers. In a step towards revitalizing the conventional approach to top-end printing, theprintspace is the first ‘DIY’ printing lab in London. The ethos at theprintspace is to give photographers and visual artists total control over the final print, whilst offering proper technical support, full instructions, and access to the kind of high-end equipment which currently only the most successful creative companies can afford. By incorporating the same professional standard of colour profiling into a user-driven ‘creative process’, theprintspace negotiates the prolab’s biggest problem – offering the standard of services professional creatives have come to expect, but making it available for more than a select few. theprintspace is delighted to sponsor the photomonth photo-open.
